Self-Care is also important for family caregivers. Many millions of spouses, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters find themselves in the role of primary caregiver for a loved one. A couple of books that may be of interest are The Mindful Caregiver: finding ease in the caregiver journey by Nancy Kriseman, and Self-Care for Caregivers: A Twelve Step Approach by Pat Samples, Diane Larsen and Marvin Larsen. Many nurses will find themselves in the role of a family caregiver as well at some point in their life. This makes having solid Self-Care behaviors in place even more important.
